The Peabody Peaker project (SP2015A) will burn natural gas as its primary fuel and diesel as a backup fuel. It will be capable of switching fuels while running. “MMWEC is committed to incorporate a 10% green hydrogen mix wih the natural gas” after the plant is online. They plan to up the mix to 20% hydrogen by 2030. “Depending on the advancements in technology, the green hydrogen mix may increase before and after 2030.”
BCNS continues to call for a full environmental review and a comprehensive health study. The approvals the plant received did not consider the impact of a hydrogen mix.
